Alpha Innovations: “Transparency yields engaged employees and partners”
Ethics and transparency
Two employees of Alpha Innovations wondered how their company, which specialises in power solutions, could assume responsibility. How could it reduce its ecological footprint? That was enough to initiate a transparent process and achieve results.
Sophie Trinon, CEO of Alpha Innovations: "We started by thinking about how we could reduce our CO2 emissions and drew up a list of ideas to shrink our footprint. With the enthusiasm and professionalism of the ecological consultant Smart2Circle, we managed to get all fifty of our employees on board.”
Reuse of boxes and cables
The list of ideas grew quickly. Many were implemented just as quickly. "Our warehouse keeper began collecting boxes for reuse. In production, they discovered that small clamps could serve as cable ties and are reusable. Solutions were devised for better recycling, carpooling, taking the train more, producing closer to our customers, and so on. Our consultant helped develop the roadmap, set KPIs, and establish deadlines."
Clear goals
"Transparency stimulates in two directions: top-down and bottom-up. The whole team gathers six times a year to sound out ideas, discuss the roadmap critically, establish data and phases, and go over progress. This ensures that everyone has the same mindset. Our staff is very much in line with our culture. The Board of Directors is also very committed."
Involving customers and suppliers is essential. "We are a small organization. We want to increase our impact by inspiring our partners and other companies. Sometimes they are also needed to implement solutions, for example, to introduce a circular packaging solution like Loopipak."
Transparent sustainability report
The KPIs are compiled clearly in the first sustainability report, which is an important document in transparent communication. "It tells all stakeholders about our objectives and achievements. It also obliges action. Because you cannot announce without doing. We also voluntarily add our objectives and achievements to the United Nation Global Compact platform to do our bit to inspire other SMEs.”
