De normenantenne "Energie-efficiëntie en ecodesign van producten" sensibiliseert en informeert over de evoluties op het vlak van normalisatie en regelgeving over energie-efficiëntie en ecodesign van producten en processen. Deze maatregelen maken deel uit van de onafgebroken inspanningen van de Europese Unie om energie-invoer en de klimaatveranderingen te beperken. De klemtoon ligt op de toepassing van de volgende Europese richtlijnen en de bijhorende geharmoniseerde normen:

  • De Ecodesign Richtlijn voor energiegerelateerde producten (Eco-design for Energy Related Products directive – ErP) 2009/125/EC is een kaderrichtlijn die de principes, voorwaarden en criteria bepaalt voor het invoeren van ecodesign-vereisten. De uitvoeringsmaatregelen per productgroep worden uitgevoerd als verordeningen.

  • De Energy labelling richtlijn 2010/30/EU geeft aan hoe de consumptie van energie en grondstoffen wordt aangeduid op producten. De Europese Commissie heeft deze richtlijn uitgebreid van huishoudapparatuur (koelkasten, televisies, wasmachines…) naar alle energie-gerelateerde producten met inbegrip van de commerciële en industriële sector.
  • De Europese Ecolabel verordening 66/2010 waarbij producten die het best scoren op het gebied van milieu-impact zoals energie-efficiëntie en materiaalgebruik een label krijgen om aan te geven dat ze het minst belastend zijn voor het milieu.

De vragen in verband met geharmoniseerde normen over de Energy Performance of Buildings Directive 2010/31/EU worden gezamenlijk met de andere normenantennes aangepakt.
