Blueberry, new Belgian industrial group in aerospace industry

Published on 29/06/20
Sabena Aerospace and SABCA, two members of Agoria Aeronautics and Agoria FLAG, recently formed a new Belgian industrial group in the aerospace industry. "It has always been a great ambition to pool the strengths of different companies for the benefit of a strong aerospace industry in Belgium. I am very proud that we have now achieved this goal" said Stéphane Burton, CEO of Blueberry and Sabena Aerospace.

The deal concerns the transfer of SABCA shares from Dassault Belgique Aviation to the new holding company "Blueberry", in which Sabena Aerospace and the Federal Holding and Investment Company (SFPI-FPIM) are shareholders. Blueberry focuses on the sustainable development of its shareholdings by bringing together future-oriented and high-tech companies.

Uniting Sabena Aerospace and SABCA, two Belgian players of reference in the aerospace industry, Blueberry lays the foundations of a sustainable ecosystem in which complementary activities, shared market knowledge and an optimized industrial organization strengthen both companies. SABCA specializes in the production of high-tech components for the aerospace industry and in MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) of military aircraft. This strongly complements the offering of Sabena Aerospace, an international MRO player that supports passenger and cargo airlines and air forces in the maintenance of their fleets.

Sabena Aerospace and SABCA are both members of Agoria Aeronautics and Agoria FLAG ('Flemish Aerospace Group'). Our business group FLAG is geared to all Flemish Agoria member companies, academics, knowledge institutes and research centres that operate in the aviation industry and provides them support for stimulating innovation and the co-creation of regional, interregional and international partnerships. The core tasks of the FLAG operation include networking, providing access to certain markets and launches, strategic information, trends and industry expertise, as well as advice and guidance on aviation-related subsidies. FLAG also represents our members before regional and federal authorities.
