In October, the EU is set to agree on policies aimed at increasing the overall uptake of EVs. The main battle lines are centered around including a bonus/malus zero and low emission vehicle (ZLEV) incentive scheme for passenger cars and whether the currently proposed 50% post-2020 CO₂ emission targets for passenger cars is too high for the sector. AVERE Secretary General, Philippe Vangeel, said "Europe is primed to take advantage of the transition to electrification, however, if we don't act now, we risk losing out. With the AEC2018 coinciding right before key votes in the European Parliament and Council, the Conference will be THE place to debate the transition to electrification in Europe."
A high caliber programme
The latest edition of the AEC2018 will bring together policy, innovative technology and inspiration from a wide range of sectors across Europe. AEC2018 kicks off with a full day of high level plenary sessions with, amongst others, Vice-President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič, Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc, and CleanTechnica Director, Zachary Shahan all prepared to provide their own take on the future of the sector. The second day will include multiple parallel sessions on issues such as battery technology, e-car sharing, connected mobility, smart charging, the electrification of heavy duty trucks, and insights from a diverse spectrum of European projects. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear about the crucial market innovations announced at EVS31 in Kobe, Japan, taking place two weeks before AEC2018.
The diverse sessions promise to be inspirational, demonstrating best practices and representing visionary approaches on electromobility by countries, cities and companies.
Brussels Town Hall event
AEC2018 will also be an excellent arena for networking and informal discussions with experts. After the first day of plenary sessions, on Wednesday evening AVERE and Visit Brussels will welcome attendees for a networking reception taking place at the Town Hall in the heart of Brussels. The elegant and charming building is the perfect spot to unwind and discuss the most interesting events of the first day, and to network with key EU policy makers and high-level industry stakeholders.
