Opportunities are available for members of the Building & Infra Technology Club and the Sports & Entertainment Technology Club for the construction of the Belgium Pavilion at Expo 2020 (Dubai UAE), the World's Fair in Dubai in 2020. We were told as much at the information session organized by both clubs and AWEX, FIT, Hub.brussels and BelExpo, the structural partners.

Dubai is hosting Expo 2020, the 35th World's Fair. People from every country will come together to share ideas, stimulate co-operation and display innovations based on the slogan of 'Connecting minds, creating the future', from 20 October 2020 to 21 April 2021 in Dubai.

Beer, fries and waffles

The Expo 'village' will be built around three themes: opportunity, sustainability and mobility. "The Belgium Pavilion will be located in the 'mobility' zone and will display the latest technological innovations", says Patrick Vercauteren Drubbel, Commissioner-General for International Exhibitions. "The main message from the Belgium Pavilion will be to invest in Belgium, work with Belgium, visit Belgium. The fries, beer and waffle stalls will add to the Belgian atmosphere."

Besix is the Pavilion Project Manager, with Vincent Callebaut, Assar architects and Krafthaus Studio working on the architecture. Construction will begin in July 2019. By November, the superstructure should be complete and work on the interior can begin. The Pavilion will include a large business centre and a restaurant, ideal for activities, seminars, meetings and various travel incentives for customers, all organised by Belgian companies.
