Agoria member Geckomatics was awarded the Everis award for most innovative startup of the year within the category "New business models in the digital economy".


Last Thursday the first Everis entrepreneurship Awards for Belgium hosted by Total in Brussels. Companies with high-impact tech innovation proposals that generate a positive change in society could apply to the call and take their chance to win 10,000 and an entry to the international final of the Global Everis Awards, with the chance of winning an additional award of 60,000.

Isabel Michiels, Lead Expert Innovation at Agoria, was part of the jury. She was impressed with the high quality of companies that entered the award. Michiels stated that "Our Belgian technology companies are on par with the best startup ecosystems in the world in terms of innovation". The evening took off with a welcome from Sophie Leconte, CEO of Everis Belgium. It was followed by a keynote from Omar Mohout, Entrepreneurship Fellow at Sirris. He presented the highlights of the Belgian startup ecosystem to the audience.

The 3 finalists epic.blue, Geckomatics and Nextbook came on stage for their pitch and the jury granted the award to Geckomatics.

"What You See Is What You Map": Geckomatics is a AI driven mapping system disrupting the way digital maps are being made. It was the rightful winner of the first Everis Awards for Belgium. Congratulations to Joren Van Severen and the team!
