29 August 2018. Izegem. A large delegation of top political and business leaders from Ghana have visited Belgium this week. Belgium-based technology company Televic had invited them to strengthen the relations between the Government of Ghana and Televic. While they were in Belgium, they took the opportunity to discuss business and investment possibilities between Flanders and Ghana.
The list of the delegation was impressive. Led by the Minister for Planning of the Republic of Ghana, the group consisted of the ministers of Education and of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development as well as representatives from several Ghanaian companies. They met with their Belgian and Flemish counterparts, and visited several companies and organisations active in their areas of responsibilities.
"I am delighted with the relations that we hold with the Ghanaian government and business world." Lieven Danneels, CEO at Televic, states. "It is thanks to the work that we with Televic have delivered in Ghana that we could show them around in our country. I am very proud that as president of the Chambre of Commerce of West-Flanders in Belgium I was able to introduce some of our key companies to them."
Televic holds close relations with Ghana since it equipped more than 240 secondary schools with infrastructure and e-learning recently. The project was conducted as part of the Sustainable Development goals which Ghana needs to meet by 2020 as defined by the United Nations.
Earlier in the year, Televic made headlines with this project when Belgian Queen Mathilde and Vice-Prime Minister Alexander Decroo visited some of these schools in Ghana upon invitation from the Ghanese government.
