By 2020, 75% of the worldís population will be living in large urban centres. This evolution is forcing us to rethink our cities and towns to make them smart. The use of innovative technologies and the key role played by companies and all the actors in research and innovation will be central to this process.
Introduction Smart Cities Global challenges such as urban densification, ageing, mobility, climate change, scarcity of resources, and digitization have a direct impact on our Belgian cities and municipalities. A Smart City is a city that uses smart technology and integrated data to enhance the quality of life and comfort of its citizens and optimise city processes and services relating to economic, social and sustainable aspects.
